Using Facebook, Twitter and LinkedIn for Sales and Marketing

Over the past few years, with very little effort on my part, I have developed a social network of hundreds of people on LinkedIn and Facebook.  All of this has me thinking about how we could leverage these networks to drive sales and position our new business offerings.

Certainly, we don't want sales people sitting on their computers all day long posting status updates and tweets.  But we probably do want our marketing person spending several hours a week executing a social networking strategy.

So far, I have set up a LinkedIn Profile, a Facebook Page for Dealer Marketing Systems and a company Twitter feed.

This has me asking several questions:

  • How can we leverage social networks to promote new ideas? (like MPS, for example...)
  • How can we generate sales leads?
  • How can we create valuable conversations with our clients to build loyalty and to create up-sell opportunities.

Over the next few months, I am committed to:

  • Understanding how to leverage social networking to grow sales
  • Linking social networking to our current web strategies
  • Uncovering/avoiding the pitfalls in using social networks in a business environment

Here's what I ask of you:

  • Set up your own social networks and build a following of people
  • Become a fan of Dealer Marketing Systems on Facebook and follow our Twitters
  • Reply to the upcoming blog posts with you comments and ideas on how to use social networking.

Let's start a conversation together and figure this out!
